The Numbers
What you can
actually make.
The model works best with 3 or more machines on a single route, where logistics cost per unit drops while revenue stacks. Most operators price food at 2.5× to 3.5× cost of goods.
Example: machine averaging $80/day
Per machine · per month
This is before your food cost. Run a 3-machine route and your gross payout stacks to ~$6,120/month before COGS.
Restocking
Under 5 minutes
per visit.
The UmaBox is designed for fast, frictionless restocking. Open the door, place items on the shelf, close the door. No reaching around coils. No awkward angles. At scale, your team can run multiple locations in a single efficient route.
Open door design. No coils. No complexity.
Uma Technology
The software
behind the box.
You operate the machine. We give you the tools to do it without guesswork.
Vision Checkout
Two cameras inside the cabinet track what customers remove from shelves. Checkout is fully automatic when the door closes. No RFID. No barcodes.
Live Inventory Data
Real-time stock levels and sales by product across all your machines. Low stock alerts sent automatically. Know what to bring before you load the van.
Seamless Payments
Customers pay via Apple or Google Pay through a mobile web app. No download needed. Funds processed automatically. You never handle cash.
Operator Portal
Your management dashboard. View machine status, live inventory levels, sales figures, and key performance data across all your locations from one place. Uma sends you a login on setup. No installation required.
Restocker Portal
Designed for the person physically stocking the machine. They unlock the cabinet through the portal, stock the shelves, and confirm. Simple enough to learn in minutes. Your team doesn't need training — they open it and it tells them what to do.
AI-Powered Route Management
We're building an agentic guidance system that tells you exactly what to stock at every machine, every visit, based on sales velocity, location patterns, and time of day. A new team member can walk in and know exactly what to do without any training or analysis on their side.
Every product must be
visually distinct.
Uma's checkout uses computer vision. Two cameras identify what customers take based on how each product looks. Every item in the machine needs to be distinguishable at a quick glance. If you can tell two products apart from arm's length without reading the label, the system can too.
If two items look identical — such as two wrap flavors with the same packaging — the system cannot reliably tell them apart and checkout accuracy suffers.
Uma can help.
We offer access to custom packaging solutions and sticker designs so your products meet the visual requirements. Our team works through this with you before you go live, at no additional cost.
